Apple Music free trial options right now

The Apple Music page listed several free offers when we checked. Each is for new subscribers, and each renews automatically until you cancel:

  • New subscriber: 1 month free on the Individual plan.
  • Family Plan: 1 month free. Family requires Family Sharing.
  • Student Plan: 1 month free, for verified college students.
  • New devices: 3 months free if you've purchased an eligible device.
  • Apple One: 1 month free on the bundle, or 3 months free with a new iPhone, iPad or Mac.

The footnotes say "New subscribers only" for the Individual, Family and Student trials. If you've had Apple Music before, expect to pay from day one.

How to get 3 months of Apple Music free

Apple's FAQ says new subscribers "can get three months of Apple Music free with an eligible audio device." To redeem it, update your iPhone or iPad to the latest iOS or iPadOS, then pair the audio device. The trial activates after pairing.

The fine print adds a few limits:

  • The offer is "for a limited time only" and is for new Apple Music subscribers with a new eligible device.
  • You have three months after the device's first activation to redeem it.
  • It's "only one offer per Apple Account, regardless of the number of eligible devices you purchase."
  • Apple Watch redemption requires pairing with an iPhone running the latest iOS.

The separate Apple One device offer is for "new and qualified returning subscribers," is limited to one per Apple Account and one per Family Sharing group, and isn't available if you or your family accepted an Apple One three-months-free offer before.

What Apple Music costs after the trial

These were the monthly prices on Apple's site on October 27, 2026. Prices can change.

  • Individual: $11.99/month.
  • Family: $19.99/month, shared with up to five people. Each person gets their own library and recommendations.
  • Student: $6.99/month for verified college students, including access to Apple TV at no extra cost. That Apple TV access ends when you no longer qualify or don't renew.
  • Apple One: bundles Apple Music with other Apple services, starting at $21.95/month. After the device trial, the fine print lists $21.95, $27.95 or $39.95 per month depending on the plan.

What you get during the trial

A trial gives you the full plan. Apple lists over 100 million songs, ad-free and available to download for offline listening, plus Spatial Audio and lossless audio. The Apple Music Classical app is included with Student, Individual and Family plans. Apple says Apple Music works on iOS, Android, Windows, Sonos, smart TVs and more.

Apple also notes that several radio stations, including Apple Music 1, are available without a subscription. That's useful if you only want live radio after the trial ends.

How to cancel the Apple Music free trial

Apple's support article on canceling a subscription from Apple says that if you signed up for a trial and don't want to renew, "cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends." On an iPhone:

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the subscription.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription. If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, it's already canceled.

You can also cancel on the web at account.apple.com, on a Mac through the App Store, or on a Windows PC through the Apple Music app. If you subscribed on an Android device and are billed through Google Play, Apple says to cancel in the Google Play app.

Can't find the subscription? Apple suggests searching your email for "receipt from Apple" to see which Apple Account was charged. If a family member's account appears, they have to cancel it. If no Apple receipt exists, check your bank statement, since you may have subscribed through another company, such as a wireless carrier. Bottom line

Most new subscribers get one free month, and buying an eligible audio device can stretch that to three. Set a reminder for at least a day before the trial ends, because Apple asks for 24 hours' notice. If you're comparing music trials, see our Spotify Premium free trial guide.
