Freegal is the library service almost nobody knows about: participating libraries give cardholders a weekly allowance of DRM-free MP3 downloads — commonly around 5 songs a week, varying by library — from a 15-million-song catalog that includes Sony Music artists. Downloaded songs are yours permanently: load them into any app, on any device, no returns, no expiration. Many libraries add free streaming hours on top.
