Why Didn't My Free Sample Arrive? Confirmation and Shipping Checks

Use confirmation, tracking, address, and billing checks to find out why a requested free sample never appeared.

Your free sample may not have arrived because the request was never accepted, the package is still being fulfilled, or delivery failed. Start by checking for confirmation before treating the sample as lost. Some sample programs approve only selected requests, and delivery can take weeks.

Confirmation emails, account details, and tracking language help identify what happened.

Verification note: Program terms and availability can change. This page was checked against linked sources on September 09, 2026.

Was the sample request confirmed?

Under its sample approval policy, no approval email may mean the request was not accepted. Send Me a Sample says a missing confirmation means its system did not receive the order. Its FAQ recommends checking spam and trying again if the offer remains available.

Is the sample still within the delivery window?

An untracked sample can therefore be valid but still awaiting fulfillment or delivery. Limited inventory can also affect the remedy. Send Me a Sample warns that it may be unable to replace a missing order when no samples remain.

What does the tracking status mean?

"Shipping Label Created" or "Pre-Shipment" means a mailing label exists, but USPS has not received the package. The USPS package-status guidance directs recipients in this situation to contact the shipper. A "Delivered" scan can provide a date, time, and delivery location, but USPS says tracking does not guarantee delivery.

Save the tracking number because USPS cannot locate the item without it.

Which delivery checks should you make?

If three weeks have passed, verify the mailing address stored in the sample account. Send Me a Sample mails to that saved address, which may differ from the address entered elsewhere. Then complete these checks:

  • Look for a missed-delivery card.
  • Ask whether another household member received the package.
  • Check the delivery location shown in tracking.
  • Contact the local depot if a card or tracking update points there.
  • Send the sponsor your confirmation and tracking number when requesting help.

Was it actually a free trial?

A free sample and a free trial are not always the same. A trial may enroll the customer in recurring paid shipments through a "negative-option" arrangement, where silence or failure to cancel is treated as consent. The Federal Trade Commission advises consumers to review pre-checked enrollment boxes, cancellation terms, and unexpected card charges.

If you supplied payment details, inspect your statement and follow the stated cancellation process promptly.
