Why Did My Cashback Portal Click Not Track on Black Friday?

See why Black Friday cashback clicks fail to track and what checkout steps keep your session connected.
Your Black Friday click usually did not track because the shopping session broke or the basket was not eligible. A cashback portal, a site that shares retailer commissions with shoppers, only records a trip that stays connected from click to checkout. High traffic days raise the risk.
More tabs, more codes, and mixed baskets all create breaks that leave no record.

Did your session stay connected?
Start at the portal and finish in the same browser tab. Switching tabs or idling too long can break the link between click and order. Shop in a normal window and accept the store cookies.
Private windows and rejected cookies leave nothing to record.
Could a browser tool block tracking?
Ad blockers, VPNs, cookie blockers, and security software can block tracking cookies. Other shopping or coupon extensions can also redirect credit for the order. Safari adds another limit.
WebKit says Apple's Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention caps persistent client-side cookies created through document.cookie at seven days, per the WebKit tracking prevention update. According to WebKit, that seven-day cap shortens the window for click-to-purchase attribution for Safari shoppers, detailed in WebKit's explanation of the seven-day cap.
Did a code or basket item void the trip?
Use only codes listed by your portal for that store. A code from elsewhere can override the tracking tag. Many basket parts do not earn.
Common exclusions include: Black Friday baskets often mix gift cards with sale items. That mix can shrink or remove the tracked amount.
- gift-card purchases or orders paid with gift cards
- taxes and shipping charges
- canceled orders and returns
What should you save and check?
Keep the order number and receipt until the transaction posts. Reporting can lag during sales peaks, so allow time before assuming loss. Check the store exclusions before you rebuy.
If the item was excluded, a repeat trip will not change the result.
