UPS Access Point: How to Ship to a Secure Location

Redirect UPS orders to a nearby pickup shop, track pickup status, and collect within seven days.

A UPS Access Point is a participating retailer that holds pre-packaged, pre-labeled UPS parcels for pickup and drop-off. To ship to one securely, select a listed Access Point at checkout when offered, or reroute a moving parcel to one through UPS tracking. These shops include grocery stores, pharmacies, Staples outlets and UPS Stores.

Hours and services vary by shop, so the listing details matter before you choose.

What Is an Access Point?

According to UPS, Access Point locations are participating retailers such as grocery stores, pharmacies, Staples and UPS Stores that handle pickup and drop-off in the UPS San Francisco Access Point listing. They hold pre-packaged, pre-labeled UPS shipments for collection, not general packing or labeling. Bring a box sealed and ready.

A shop can accept your parcel when the UPS label is already affixed.

Can You Choose One at Checkout?

Some retailers let you select a listed UPS Access Point as the delivery address during checkout. According to UPS Ireland, the listing shows hours and contact information to help you choose in the UPS Ireland Access Point guide. This option appears only when the retailer offers it.

If you do not see it, place the order to your home address and reroute it after shipment.

How Do You Reroute a Parcel in Transit?

When your parcel is already moving, open UPS tracking and choose Change My Delivery. You can redirect it to a nearby Access Point through UPS My Choice or the guest option. Do not type the shop street address directly on the label.

That manual entry does not create a hold for pickup and can stall the parcel at a hub. According to UPS My Choice, a one-time redirect costs $5.99 for Basic members in the UPS My Choice page. Premium members are covered, and members with an ongoing Access Point preference pay nothing extra.

  • Open tracking for your parcel.
  • Select Change My Delivery.
  • Choose a nearby Access Point.

What Do You Need for Pickup?

Wait until tracking shows Awaiting Customer Pickup before visiting the shop. Bring government-issued photo ID matching the name on the package, plus the tracking number. If your ID shows an old address, bring a utility bill as well.

Some senders also require a separate 4-6 digit release code. According to UPS, uncollected parcels are held seven calendar days including weekends in the UPS Access Point page. After that date the package returns to the sender, so follow the deadline in tracking.

How Do You Drop Off Returns?

Bring the parcel sealed with the prepaid UPS label already affixed. The shop can accept it when the package is ready to move. Retailer QR codes and UPS Mobile Barcodes work only where label printing is offered.

Check the location services before you go to avoid an extra trip.
