The verified current options for Richmond readers seeking tech with no purchase necessary are the 2026 Run of a Lifetime Sweepstakes, the Tech For Troops veteran laptop application, and the Richmond Public Library Memory Lab. The first is a chance to win, while the other two provide free access to equipment or tools for eligible users. No purchase necessary means entry does not require buying a product.

What counts as no purchase necessary
A sweepstakes entry can be free even when the sponsor also sells products. According to Noxgear LLC, its 2026 Run of a Lifetime Sweepstakes requires no purchase to enter or win and a purchase will not improve odds beyond free entry methods Noxgear rules. Free access is different because there is no drawing and no odds.
That distinction helps Richmond readers compare a national entry form with local programs that provide hands-on help.
Chance to win open to Richmond residents
Richmond is inside the eligibility area described for the national sweepstakes. According to Noxgear LLC, eligibility covers legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States plus D.C., which includes Richmond, VA, and the offer is void where prohibited Noxgear eligibility rules. Readers should check age, residency, entry dates, and entry limits beside the entry form before submitting.
State limits matter because an entry that does not meet those terms does not qualify.
Free tech access in Richmond
Veterans in Richmond can apply for refurbished-computer help and skills training. According to Tech For Troops, its Veteran Improvement Program includes a laptop application plus a VIBE computer-skills class, with free access to over 10,000 online classes for veterans Tech For Troops services. The Richmond Public Library Memory Lab at Main Library provides another free tech option.
According to the Richmond Public Library, the Memory Lab offers free do-it-yourself photo, video, and audio digitization by appointment with online workstation and recording-pod booking Memory Lab hours and booking.
