Thanksgiving Weekend Clearance: What Sells Out Fastest?

Toys, electronics and TVs clear first; shop peak-discount days early for top LEGO and console picks.
Toys sell out fastest during Thanksgiving weekend clearance, followed by electronics and related tech. Adobe Analytics found toys had the highest online sales velocity on Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2024. Cyber Week covers Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday, online and in stores.
About 197 million U.S. consumers shopped that stretch in 2024, with Black Friday the busiest day, according to the National Retail Federation in its December 2024 holiday weekend report.

What clears first online?
Toys were the fastest-velocity online category on Black Friday 2024, with sales up about 622% versus October daily averages. Leaders included Harry Potter LEGO, Wicked items, Disney Princess items and board games, according to Adobe Analytics in its Cyber Monday recap. Toys led again on Cyber Monday 2024, at 680% above October averages.
Personal care, jewelry, appliances and electronics followed, with top sellers including LEGO City, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch OLED.
Why do discounts drive early sellouts?
The deepest discounts concentrated demand in a few categories. Adobe Analytics reported 2024 peaks of 30.1% for electronics, 26-28% for toys, near 23% for apparel and near 22% for TVs in its holiday discount summary. That pattern creates early pressure on category leaders.
When many shoppers chase the same LEGO sets, consoles and TVs on the same day, popular models and colors go first.
When should you act by category?
U.S. online Cyber Week spending hit $41.1 billion in 2024, up 8.2% yearly. Thanksgiving reached $6.1 billion and Black Friday reached $10.8 billion, both growing faster than Cyber Monday, according to Adobe Analytics.
Black Friday growth continued in 2025, reaching $11.8 billion online, up 9.1%. Adobe reported it was the second straight year Black Friday growth outpaced Cyber Monday as shoppers bought earlier deals. Adobe forecasts 2026 Black Friday at $12.9 billion and Thanksgiving at $6.9 billion in its 2026 holiday forecast.

What can't online data tell you?
Online velocity does not equal store-shelf inventory. Adobe tracks over 1 trillion online visits and 100 million SKUs, not local doorbuster counts, according to Adobe methodology. That means local sellouts can happen faster than national charts suggest.
