Tech Giveaways in Baltimore, MD: Updated 2026 List for Local Winners

Baltimore does not have a verified, open-to-all list of tech giveaways for 2026. The available options are targeted device programs and library loans, not sweepstakes with randomly selected local winners. Here, a "tech giveaway" means a device that recipients can keep without paying for it.

Which device programs are verified?

Baltimore City has distributed Chromebooks through a digital-equity program for low-income households. The city's 2025 accomplishments report says nearly 50,000 Chromebooks had been distributed by 2025. That figure describes completed distribution over time, not 50,000 devices currently available.

Readers should not treat an old registration page, social post, or flyer as proof that applications remain open. Maryland's Connected Devices Program also supplied new internet-enabled devices through grants to counties and municipalities. Because local governments managed distribution, availability and application procedures could differ by location.

Who qualified for the earlier Baltimore giveaway?

The most recently published rules located for Baltimore's ownership program date from 2023. They required applicants to meet all of these conditions: Those rules explain who the program was designed to help, but they should not be assumed current in 2026. Before gathering documents or traveling to a distribution site, confirm the application period and eligibility terms with the named city agency or library branch.

Can residents borrow a Chromebook now?

Yes. Enoch Pratt Free Library offers a current borrowing option for cardholders age 13 or older. Its Chromebook lending page says borrowers may check out one Chromebook for 12 weeks, with as many as three automatic renewals when nobody has placed a hold.

This is a loan, so the borrower does not gain ownership. It may still suit someone who needs a computer for schoolwork, job applications, telehealth visits, or other temporary use. Pratt cards are free to people who live in Maryland or own property in the state.

Applicants must take the required identification and completed application to a library branch.

Plan separately for internet access

A free or borrowed Chromebook does not automatically include home internet. Pratt offers hotspots separately, while Baltimore's FreeBmoreWiFi coverage includes selected senior centers, recreation centers, and the Pennsylvania Avenue Main Street corridor rather than every home. Avoid instructions that still present the Affordable Connectivity Program, or ACP, as an active way to qualify for service.

The Federal Communications Commission's consumer advisory states that ACP ended and enrollment closed June 1, 2024. Before reserving a device, decide whether public Wi-Fi, an existing connection, or a separately borrowed hotspot will cover the places where it will be used.
