Tech Giveaways in Atlanta, GA: Updated 2026 List for Local Winners

The updated 2026 list has one verified Atlanta-area tech giveaway: Compudopt's free-computer drawing for qualifying households. No second active device giveaway was documented; Atlanta's other confirmed technology benefit is free public Wi-Fi, not a winner-selected promotion. Here, a tech giveaway means a program that provides a device at no cost to selected applicants.
Atlanta residents should focus on Compudopt while carefully checking its household and student requirements.
The verified computer giveaway
Compudopt's Atlanta registration page currently accepts applications for a free-computer giveaway. Applicants qualify only when their household lacks access to a working computer. A school-issued device does not count as a family-owned computer under the program's stated rules.
That distinction may help families whose children use borrowed school laptops but have no household device. A Compudopt Atlanta flyer also says households must have a child in grades K–12. Because the current registration page does not state that condition, applicants should confirm it before relying on their eligibility.
The flyer says distributed computers include a two-year warranty and free technical support.
How selection and notification work
Registration does not promise a computer. Compudopt randomly selects recipients according to available inventory three days before each distribution date. Selected applicants receive notice by email, text, or both and must complete an RSVP process.
To avoid missing an opportunity:
- Enter an email address and phone number you monitor.
- Check spam and filtered-message folders.
- Respond promptly if Compudopt requests an RSVP.
- Treat the application as pending until selection is confirmed.
Internet help is a separate benefit
The registration form lets applicants indicate that they need free or low-cost internet. That question does not create another device giveaway or establish that internet service will be free. Compudopt separately describes its internet service as costing $20 per month, plus $99 for a router when one is needed.
Applicants should distinguish that paid service from the free-computer selection. The City of Atlanta also launched "Atlanta Free" Wi-Fi in downtown locations, including Centennial Olympic Park, City Hall, and the Atlanta University Center, according to the city's June 22, 2026 announcement. It can provide connectivity at those locations, but it does not distribute devices or select winners.
Why Georgia Tech prizes are not on the list
The 2026 Georgia Tech InVenture Prize may appear in searches for Atlanta technology giveaways, but it was a completed student innovation contest. Hearo won $20,000, while PedalSwap received $10,000. The Georgia Tech announcement says eligibility was limited to Georgia Tech undergraduate students and recent graduates.
It was not an open computer giveaway for Atlanta households.
