Teacher Appreciation Freebies: How to Verify Dates and Eligibility

Check dates, educator eligibility, account rules, exclusions, and caps before trying to claim a teacher offer.

Teacher Appreciation freebies are not automatically active during the school year; each offer needs current sponsor dates and terms. Verify the promotion period, eligible educators, required credentials, redemption method, exclusions, and benefit limits before acting. Some offers are short seasonal promotions, while others are continuing educator discounts or free education programs.

That difference determines whether you must claim an offer this week or can enroll later.

Verification note: Program terms and availability can change. This page was checked against linked sources on September 09, 2026.

Is Teacher Appreciation Week happening now?

No nationwide Teacher Appreciation Week is underway on September 9, 2026. The National Education Association scheduled the 2026 observance for May 4–8. Treat week-only promotions from May as expired unless the sponsor posts new dates.

A social post, old article, or undated store sign does not establish current availability.

What should you verify?

Check the sponsor's terms for six details: Also identify what the offer actually provides. "Free," "15% off," and "25% back in rewards" describe different benefits and may involve different upfront costs.

  • Exact start and end dates
  • Included educators, staff, and school levels
  • Required account, membership, or identity verification
  • Online, in-store, app, or school-managed redemption
  • Excluded products and services

Which educator retail offers are current?

Office Depot's educator benefit runs through December 26, 2026. Verified members receive 25% back in Bonus Rewards on qualifying online purchases after signing into their account. Its teacher rewards terms require ID.me verification, cap rewards at $100 per member per week, and exclude categories including ink, toner, computers, gift cards, postage, and services.

Michaels provides verified educators with 15% off eligible purchases online and in stores every day. The Michaels teacher discount page says customers must join Michaels Rewards, and product exclusions and one-discount-per-product/per-day limits apply. Michaels includes qualifying U.S.

Pre-K through post-graduate teachers, staff, faculty, daycare teachers, homeschool teachers, and specified after-school instructors. Verification may require a current school ID, teaching certificate, or recent pay stub.

When does "free" mean institutional access?

Canva Education is a continuing free program for verified K–12 educators and students, rather than a Teacher Appreciation Week promotion. The Canva Education eligibility page does not include college and university educators within its stated K–12 eligibility. Adobe Express for Education also offers Premium features free to eligible K–12 institutions.

However, the school or district must check eligibility and deploy access, so an individual teacher is not automatically promised an account.

How to avoid a failed redemption

Open the sponsor's current offer page before shopping, then sign into the required account and complete verification. Check exclusions against the specific items in your cart rather than relying on the headline percentage. For school-managed software, ask the appropriate school or district contact whether accounts have been enabled.

For retail offers, bring the listed credential when required and confirm that the discount or reward appears before completing the transaction.
