Starbucks Birthday Reward Not Showing: Account Checks to Make

Check five account details that can explain a missing Starbucks Birthday Reward before its redemption window closes.
If your Starbucks Birthday Reward is not showing, first confirm your birthday, enrollment date, qualifying purchase, membership tier, and signed-in account. The offer remains available to eligible U.S. Starbucks Rewards members, but several account rules can prevent it from appearing.
A Birthday Reward is a member benefit added automatically for the birthday recorded in an eligible account. Starbucks' Rewards Terms effective March 10, 2026 explain the current requirements and redemption limits.

Check your birthday and enrollment date
Your Starbucks Rewards account must contain your birthday. Members who have not provided birthday information do not receive the reward. You also must join Starbucks Rewards at least seven days before your birthday.
For example, joining three days beforehand will not qualify you that year, even if the birthday is saved correctly. Both conditions appear in Starbucks' current Rewards Terms. Check these details while signed into the personal account you normally use:
- Confirm that a birthday is recorded.
- Verify that you joined at least seven days before that date.
- Make sure you did not sign into a second or older account.
Verify a Star-earning transaction
Account creation and Starbucks Card ownership are not enough. You must complete at least one Star-earning transaction before your birthday each year to qualify. Review your purchase history carefully.
A transaction may not satisfy the rule if you checked out as a guest or bought through delivery. Alcohol, Starbucks Card purchases or reloads, and purchases at some nonparticipating stores may also fail to earn Stars. The useful test is whether the purchase actually earned Stars in the relevant account.
Starbucks documents this annual transaction requirement in its Birthday Reward eligibility rules.
Look in the correct place and account
Sign into the Starbucks app or the Starbucks Rewards account page and review the available Rewards. Confirm that the account displayed is the same one used for the qualifying transaction. This matters if you have changed email addresses, created multiple accounts, or sometimes purchase as a guest.
A reward tied to one account will not appear merely because another account uses similar personal information. Refreshing the app may help display current account information, but it cannot correct missing eligibility. If the birthday, enrollment timing, or annual Star-earning purchase does not meet the terms, repeated refreshes will not create the reward.
Confirm your redemption window
The usable period depends on your current membership tier. Green members can redeem the Birthday Reward only on their birthday, Gold members have seven days, and Reserve members have 30 days. Check both the account tier and today's date.
A reward that has already passed its tier-specific window is different from one that never appeared. Starbucks lists these time limits in the current Rewards Terms. Do not assume every account receives a week or a month.
A Green member checking the day after the recorded birthday is already outside the stated redemption period.
Know what the reward covers
An eligible Birthday Reward covers one handcrafted beverage, one food item, or one ready-to-drink bottled beverage at a participating Starbucks store. It does not cover alcohol, multi-serve items, merchandise, or packaged coffee. A rejected item does not necessarily mean the reward is absent.
Check the available Rewards first, then choose an eligible single item at a participating location. Long-inactive accounts require another check. An account with no Stars earned for two consecutive years may be unregistered and lose Rewards eligibility.
Duplicate or unauthorized accounts may also be suspended, so those situations may require assistance from Starbucks rather than another app refresh.
