Senior Discount Tuesdays: Which Stores Offer Them?

See which stores cut prices on Tuesdays for ages 55 and 60+, plus codes, ID rules and first-Tuesday dates.

Senior Discount Tuesdays are age-based savings offered on Tuesdays, and five chains have Tuesday offers tied to ages 55 and older or 60 and older. They include Walgreens, Ross Dress for Less, Tops Friendly Markets, Fred Meyer, and Weis Markets. The day and age cutoff differ by store.

Some offers run every Tuesday, while others run only on the first Tuesday of the month.

What Walgreens offers on the first Tuesday

Walgreens hosts Seniors Day on the first Tuesday of each month for myWalgreens members age 55 and older. The benefit is 20 percent off eligible regular-price merchandise in store and online with code SENIOR20, as described on the Walgreens Seniors Day page. Membership matters here.

A shopper needs to be enrolled in myWalgreens and meet the age rule before checkout. Online shoppers enter the code during payment to receive the reduction on eligible items.

Which clothing discount runs every Tuesday

Ross Dress for Less offers a Tuesday Discount of 10 percent off Tuesday purchases for customers age 55 and older. Ross explains in its Stores FAQ that shoppers must tell the associate and may need to show ID verifying age. This is the simplest Tuesday routine on this list.

There is no first-Tuesday calendar check and no membership card to scan. Tell the cashier before payment and have age ID ready.

Which grocery discounts use age 60 or first Tuesdays

Tops Friendly Markets runs Young at Heart Day on the first Tuesday of every month as a savings club for shoppers age 60 and older. Tops describes the program on its Young at Heart page. Members age 60 and older save 6.0 percent on grocery and out-of-pocket pharmacy purchases on that first Tuesday.

Shoppers register for the club, then shop on the monthly date to receive the reduction. Fred Meyer offers shoppers age 55 and older an extra 10 percent off select items on the first Tuesday of every month. The Fred Meyer Senior Discount page lists private-brand groceries, apparel, home, and electronics among the included categories.

Weis Markets offers customers age 60 and older a 10 percent senior discount on Tuesdays covering more than 6,000 Weis brand products. Registration calls for a one-time ID check, so later visits move faster.

What to check before you go

Tuesday savings exclude many items and often require membership or ID. Walgreens limits its offer to eligible regular-price merchandise, and Weis limits its Tuesday reduction to Weis brand products.

  • Check whether your store uses every Tuesday or only the first Tuesday.
  • Bring age ID, membership card or app, and any required code.
  • Ask which brands, pharmacy charges, sale items, and services are excluded.
  • Confirm holiday hours, since a holiday can shift the discount date.
