New Year Sweepstakes: How Late-December Entry Rules Differ

Learn which December sweepstakes close early, reset weekly, or accept late mail before you enter.

Late-December entry rules differ by cutoff hour, time zone, entry reset, and mail receipt. A New Year label does not mean entry stays open until New Year. An entry period means the exact start and end times when a sponsor accepts entries.

The examples below show why day, hour, and entry limits matter more than the holiday name.

Why December 31 is not one deadline

Some programs run two clocks at once in late December. One part can close before the rest of the program ends. According to the Perks at Work Help Center, the 2026 Holiday Savings Raffles run Nov.

2-Dec. 31, 2026, while the separate Event Raffle closes Dec. 21, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

ET in the Holiday Savings raffle rules. A reader entering after Dec. 21 would miss one drawing pool but may still qualify for the other.

Deferit Inc. rules set a different pattern. Its December entry period ended Dec.

31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET, with the drawing held Jan. 12, 2026.

An end date can therefore mark the close of entries, not the award date.

Do entries reset or carry over?

Weekly and monthly structures treat repeat entries very differently. Readers should check whether unused entries move forward. Perks at Work allows one entry per user per weekly period with no carryover to later weeks.

A missed week cannot be made up later in the month. Monthly rolling periods restart the calendar without extending it. According to Big O Tires rules, the December 2026 period runs Dec.

1 at 12:01 a.m. ET to Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m.

ET for U.S. and D.C. residents age 18 and older in the Customer First sweepstakes rules.

Entry in November would not count for December.

Can mail arrive after online entry closes?

Mail rules sometimes give a short grace period after the posted end date. Other programs close every entry method on the same night. According to Deferit Inc.

rules, entrants faced a 24-entry limit per person across all methods, and mailed entries had to be postmarked by Dec. 31, 2025 and received by Jan. 6, 2026 in the December sweepstakes rules.

Proper late mail could therefore still count after the online cutoff. Perks at Work takes the stricter approach for its Event Raffle. Both purchase-bonus and free-form alternate entries had to be completed by Dec.

21, 2026. Readers should not assume mail always gets extra time.

Why do New Year prizes have early or very short windows?

A New Year theme describes the prize, not the entry calendar. Some windows close long before December ends. Waterford's VIP Times Square New Year's Eve sweepstakes ran Oct.

23-Nov. 9, 2026. Entry closed nearly two months before New Year's Eve despite the holiday trip theme.

Other chances open only for hours around the holiday itself. According to Visit Music City rules, Nashville's New Year's Eve survey giveaway opened only Dec. 31, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.

CT through Jan. 1, 2026 at 12:15 a.m. CT, limit one per person, in the survey giveaway rules.

That format rewards exact timing rather than early planning.

What should you check before entering late?

Use the sponsor's rules page for the exact program name and period. Small wording differences change eligibility. Save or print the period dates before Dec.

31. If two raffles share a holiday name, enter each one under its own deadline.
