Which January 1 birthday treats are free?
Starbucks Rewards gives an eligible member one complimentary handcrafted beverage, food item or bottled drink for a birthday. It works at participating stores and excludes multi-serve items. A January 1 birthday is redeemable New Year's morning under the Starbucks Rewards Terms from Starbucks.
Krispy Kreme Rewards sends a birthday reward to the account on the birthdate in the profile. The reward is valid 30 days from receipt, so January birthdays cover January 1. See the rewards details from Krispy Kreme, and save your birthdate or you get no reward.
Birthday pickup goes faster with a short check. Confirm the store participates, log in before ordering, and read the reward screen for size and menu limits.
- Save birthdate in each account well before January 1.
- Bring the app and login to the store.
- Confirm your local store participates before ordering.
Why does Dunkin' work differently?
Dunkin' Rewards gives all-day 3X points on purchases for a birthday. You can activate it the day before, the day of, or the day after your birthday. You must save your birthday in advance, according to Dunkin' Rewards and FAQ support.
That means a January 1 birthday earns extra points on what you buy that day. It does not create a free item at the register. If you want a free morning bite, use a different birthday reward instead.
What is not free on January 1?
The National Park Service does not list January 1 as a fee-free day. Its 2026 fee-free days include February 16, May 25, and June 14, plus other dates, for U.S. citizens and residents.
Timed-entry fees can still apply, according to NPS Fees and Passes. So expect normal entrance fees at federal sites that charge them New Year's morning. State First Day Hikes remain the surer free outdoor pick for January 1.
