IHOP Rewards: Free Pancakes and How to Claim Them
Earn PanCoins for free pancakes after your first order and birthday, then claim them in the Stack Market.
IHOP Rewards members can get free pancakes by earning PanCoins and exchanging them in the Stack Market. The International Bank of Pancakes is IHOP's free loyalty program for dine-in visits and direct orders placed through the app or website. New members receive pancakes after a first purchase, and birthday members receive pancakes during their birthday month.
Each reward becomes a one-time coupon in the Rewards Wallet for dine-in or online use.
How does the loyalty program work?
The International Bank of Pancakes uses PanCoins as its rewards currency. According to the IHOP Rewards page, members earn and redeem those PanCoins in the app or at ihop.com/rewards. Members earn 1 PanCoin for every $5 spent when dining at IHOP or ordering directly through the IHOP app or ihop.com, according to the IHOP Rewards FAQ.
Orders through outside marketplaces do not count toward that rate. Tracking spending through one account helps PanCoins add up faster.
How do new members get free pancakes?
First-time members receive 5 PanCoins after their first purchase as a member. Those PanCoins are redeemable for a promotional coupon for a 5-stack of pancakes. That means the pancakes are free with a qualifying purchase, rather than available without spending.
Join before ordering, make sure the purchase is recorded to the new account, then check the Stack Market for the new-member option.
How do birthday pancakes work?
Birthday members automatically receive 5 PanCoins on the 1st of their birthday month. Members must join and provide a birthday before the 1st to qualify. According to the IHOP birthday pancake page, those 5 PanCoins can be exchanged in the Stack Market for a free full stack of Original Buttermilk pancakes, redeemable at any IHOP location.
Add the birthday to the account well before the month begins.
How do you claim a reward?
Members select the wanted item in the Stack Market. That action creates a one-time coupon in the Rewards Wallet. Then present the code to a server for a dine-in visit or apply it at online checkout.
The steps are:
- Open the Stack Market and choose the pancake reward.
- Confirm the exchange to move the one-time coupon to the Rewards Wallet.
- Show the code dine-in or enter it online before paying.
What limits should you watch?
Unused PanCoins expire one year after they are earned. Redeemed Wallet rewards remain usable for up to one year if unused, so redeeming does not require same-day use. Separately, IHOP designated the first Tuesday of March as its annual National Pancake Day and offered a free dine-in Short Stack of Buttermilk Pancakes on March 3, 2026, from 7am to 8pm at participating U.S.
restaurants, according to the IHOP National Pancake Day announcement. That dine-in event has passed. For current savings, check PanCoin balances and expiration dates before the birthday month or a planned visit.
