How to Set Up a Recurring Donation After Giving Tuesday

Turn your GivingTuesday gift into an automatic monthly donation you can adjust, pause, or track for taxes.
To set up a recurring donation after GivingTuesday, use the nonprofit's donate button to start an automatic monthly gift, per OCCU's year-round giving guide. Pick the monthly option so the same amount repeats each month until you adjust it. GivingTuesday is an annual global generosity day, and GivingTuesday lists Dec.
2, 2025 as held and Dec. 1, 2026 as next. Idealist notes $10 per month totals $120 yearly, which helps a charity plan spending.
You can start small and raise the amount later.

Reopen the charity's own donation page
Use the charity's website or social profile, not a one-time event link. Event pages can expire or route gifts to a general fund. Open the About or Ways to Give page if you cannot find Donate.
Confirm the legal name matches the group you meant to support.
- Click Donate on the charity site or profile.
- Enter the amount and payment details.
- Look for the monthly choice before you submit.
Select monthly and set the schedule
Most forms show recurrence as a "Monthly" tab or a "Make this a monthly gift" checkbox. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital describes that choice on its [St.
Jude Giving Tuesday page](https://www.stjude.org/get-involved/other-ways/st-jude-thanks-and-giving/giving-tuesday.html?sc_cid=ptn99209). It charges the same date each month until you change it. MCT Foundation says donors can adjust or cancel the automatic gift at any time.
Some forms also offer a fixed number of payments instead of ongoing gifts, plus quarterly or annual frequency.
Use a small amount or bank bill pay
Small gifts work because steady funds help with budgeting when a large gift is unaffordable. A $10 monthly gift is one practical starting point. A Reason to Believe Animal Rescue points to bank bill pay for checking-account donors.
Add the charity as a payee in online banking, then schedule the recurring payment for your chosen date.
Verify status and save tax records
Before scheduling, check the recipient in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search by legal name or EIN. The IRS tool confirms tax-exempt status and deductible-contribution eligibility for U.S. donors.
For records, the IRS explains the receipt rule in IRS Topic No. 506. Any single cash gift of $250 or more needs a contemporaneous written acknowledgment stating amount and goods or services received.
Smaller monthly gifts can use bank or card records. Save each letter and monthly statement with your tax files.
