How to Organize Your Entries for December Sweepstakes

A simple tracker for caps, cutoffs, taxes, and winner mail keeps December prize entries valid.

To organize December entries, keep one tracker with each cutoff in the sponsor's time zone, each daily limit, and each drawing window. Log prize values for taxes and check the entry inbox daily, including spam, for winner notices. A sweepstakes is a chance-based prize drawing that usually needs no purchase to enter.

December often stacks daily-entry offers and split drawings, so separate rows prevent missed deadlines and rule breaks.

Put Every Cutoff in Sponsor Time

Driscoll's 2025 rules set the end at Dec. 16, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. PT and named its server clock as the timekeeper, according to Driscoll's 2025 Sweetness rules.

Write that zone next to every deadline and set alerts a day early and an hour early. HANRO USA's Holiday 2025 rules used four windows, including Dec. 1-4 and Dec.

8-11, so each window needed its own reminder. Give split drawings separate rows with their own close dates.

Track Each Daily Limit on Its Own Row

Driscoll's 2025 entry allowed one entry per person or email per day. HGTV's December 2025 FAQ described one entry per day on each of HGTV.com and FoodNetwork.com. Make columns for offer, cap, entries sent, and next eligible time.

This stops accidental second entries on the same day.

Use Manual Entry and a Permanent Email

Driscoll's 2025 rules barred automated entry devices and disposable or forwarding email services, with disqualification for violations. Enter by hand and use one permanent address for all December offers.

  • Use one lasting email for all December offers.
  • Type each entry yourself and skip bots, scripts, and auto-fill tools.
  • Save confirmation screens for no-purchase entries.

Get Tax and Winner Papers Ready

Internal Revenue Service guidance treats sweepstakes and contest prizes as taxable income to report, including cars, trips, and merchandise at fair-market value, per the tax assistant on prizes. Keep a log with prize name, date won, cash value, and fair-market value. STIHL USA rules asked potential winners to return an affidavit, liability and publicity releases, and a W-9 within the notice period, and noted 6-8 weeks for delivery, per STIHL USA kit rules.

Watch the entry inbox, including spam, and keep ID and tax forms handy.

Treat Payment Demands as Stop Signs

The Federal Trade Commission's Oct. 2026 alert warns that prize notices demanding payment for taxes, shipping, or processing point to a scam, because legitimate prizes are free to claim, per the prize scam alert. Never pay to claim or to improve odds.

Pause, compare the message to the sponsor's rules page, and report the notice. Save your entry confirmations until winners post.
