How to Maximize Credit Card Points on Black Friday Electronics

Start at your card portal, stack store credit, and save points for travel to make electronics buys count.
To maximize credit card points on Black Friday electronics, click through your card issuer's shopping portal first and then pay with a rewards card. Add store membership rewards when available and save the points for higher-value redemptions instead of paying at checkout. A shopping portal is a card issuer's link hub that pays bonus points for starting at the portal.
On Black Friday, that click can matter more than the card rate because portal bonuses add to normal card earnings.

Click the portal before you shop
Chase says eligible Freedom, Ink, and Sapphire members can earn portal bonus points on eligible purchases at more than 1,000 retailers. Chase also says those portal rewards come in addition to the normal points from the card transaction, as described in its guide to using the shopping portal. Use this order for each electronics buy to keep the bonus.
Open the portal first, then click through to the retailer and finish checkout in the same session. Pay with the points-earning card linked to the portal. Keep the receipt until the bonus posts and the return period passes.
- Open your card portal and find the electronics retailer.
- Click the designated merchant link to start the session.
- Pay online with the eligible rewards card.
Stack store membership with your card
Best Buy Corporate reports My Best Buy Plus and Total members earn 1 percent back in rewards on eligible purchases. Members who also pay with a My Best Buy Credit Card using Standard Credit earn a combined 6 percent back, explained in its June 2026 rewards update. For a Black Friday TV or laptop, that means the membership credit and card credit can apply to the same eligible checkout.
Confirm the item is eligible before you pay. Choose Standard Credit when you pay with the store card.
Why save points instead of paying at checkout?
American Express states that using Membership Rewards with Pay with Points at participating retail checkouts typically yields only 0.7 to 1 cent per point, according to its points-value guide. That rate makes direct checkout coverage weak for big electronics. Electronics shoppers stretch value by earning through portals now and moving points toward higher-value travel later.
Earn the points in November. Hold them for a travel redemption instead of draining them at the register.
What wipes out the bonus?
Chase notes Shop through Chase credits bonus points only when you click a designated merchant link first, per its Shop through Chase supplement. The same supplement excludes taxes, shipping, in-store purchases, gift cards, and third-party coupon codes. It also excludes returned or refunded purchases.
Buy online without pasting an outside coupon code at checkout. Skip gift cards when your goal is the portal bonus. Keep the item instead of returning it.
