How to Enter Thanksgiving Giveaways That Require a Mail-In Form

Copy the card wording exactly, add first-class postage, and mail early to meet postmark and receipt dates.
To enter a Thanksgiving giveaway that requires a mail-in form, hand-print the exact details the sponsor lists on a 3"x5" card or postcard and mail it with postage to the sponsor's address before the postmark and receipt dates. A mail-in form is the free alternate entry method sponsors offer alongside online entry, and it counts as a chance to win, not a free prize. Read the sponsor's rules for that promotion before you write anything.
Wording, address, age, location, and entry limits change by giveaway, and sponsors disqualify entries that are late, illegible, or misdirected.

What to write on the card
Copy the requested lines word for word. According to M. Shanken Communications, the 2025 Wine Spectator x Hestan Thanksgiving entry asked for full name, address, city, state, ZIP, email, phone and birthdate, hand-printed on a 3"x5" card sent to 825 Eighth Ave, 30th Fl, New York, NY 10019, as described in the Thanksgiving sweepstakes rules.
Other sponsors ask for less. According to America's Test Kitchen, its 2025 Thanksgiving livestream entry asked for name, address, city, state, ZIP and email on a hand-printed postcard sent to Gear Heads Giveaway Mail-in Entry in Boston, as described in the livestream giveaway rules. Use this checklist for each card:
- Hand-print, do not type, unless the rules allow typing.
- Include every field in the same order the rules list.
- Use your home address and an email you check.
- Keep handwriting clear and leave no extra marks.
Where and when to mail it
Mail the card with first-class postage to the exact department and floor the rules name. Small differences in company name, attention line, or suite number can send the entry to the wrong desk. Watch both dates.
According to M. Shanken Communications, that 2025 Thanksgiving mail entry had to be postmarked by Dec. 14, 2025 and received by Dec.
21, 2025, with one mail entry per outer envelope, as described in the Thanksgiving sweepstakes rules. A postmark date is the cancellation mark applied by the postal service. A receipt date is the day the sponsor gets the envelope.
Send early in the entry period. According to the U.S. Postal Service, much mail is postmarked during automated sorting days after drop-off, so ask for a manual retail-counter postmark when you mail close to a deadline, as explained in postal guidance on postmarks.
Who can enter and how often?
Check age and place before you stamp the envelope. According to America's Test Kitchen, its 2025 Thanksgiving livestream promotion was open only during Nov. 20, 2025, 6:00-7:15 p.m.
ET to legal U.S. and D.C. residents age 18 and older, void where prohibited including Puerto Rico and overseas military addresses, with sponsor employees and household members barred, as described in the livestream giveaway rules.
Limits are strict. Many Thanksgiving promotions allow one entry per person for the whole period. Some also limit mail to one card per outer envelope, so do not stack family entries in one envelope unless the rules allow it.
Use this quick check:
- Are you 18 or older and living at a qualifying U.S. address?
- Does the promotion void your state, territory, or military address?
- Have you or a household member already entered online or by mail?
Postage, purchase, and odds
You must pay postage, but you do not need to buy a product. According to the Association of National Advertisers, sweepstakes must clearly disclose that no purchase is necessary and that buying does not improve odds, as explained in consumer guidance on sweepstakes promotions. That protection matters for Thanksgiving cookware, food, and TV parade promotions that also sell products.
A store receipt, Peacock membership, or cookbook order does not raise your chance. A mail card and an online form carry the same odds unless the rules state separate drawings. Keep proof of mailing when the prize matters to you.
Note the date mailed, keep the receipt for certified or tracked mail, and photograph the front of the card before sealing if the rules do not forbid copies. If the card comes back undelivered, fix the address and resend only while the entry period is still open.
