How to Enter Airline and Travel Holiday Sweepstakes

Enter two live airline drawings before their deadlines with account, age, and tax rules explained.

To enter airline holiday sweepstakes, complete the sponsor's entry form during its entry window or follow its listed social steps. A sweepstakes is a chance to win a prize with no purchase necessary, drawn from eligible entries. Two travel drawings have live entry periods around November 3, 2026.

Each requires a free loyalty account and limits how often you can enter. One recent social giveaway has already closed and shows how tag-to-enter posts work.

What can you enter right now?

Southwest's 2026 Rapid Rewards Sweepstakes accepts one entry per person from January 1 through December 31, 2026. According to Southwest Airlines, entry requires completing the form at its entry form. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

American's Longhorns Perks sweepstakes allows one entry per day per person. According to American Airlines, patio-ticket entry closes November 9, 2026, while Nashville entry runs through January 22, 2027, on its entry page. Both are chances to win, not promised travel benefits.

Who can enter?

Check age, residence, and account rules before you spend time entering. Southwest is open only to legal U.S. residents age 18 and older, excluding Alaska, who hold a free Rapid Rewards account and valid email.

Employees and household members are ineligible. American requires free AAdvantage membership. It is open at age 18 and older nationwide, except age 19 and older in Alabama and Nebraska.

The Allegiant fall example required the prize recipient to be an Allways Rewards member age 21 or older living in the 50 states or D.C.

  • Hold the named loyalty account before entering.
  • Meet the age and state rule for that drawing.
  • Use your own valid email and personal account.

How did the Instagram tag entry work?

Allegiant's Fall into a Getaway Giveaway ran October 3-10, 2026, so it is now closed. According to Allegiant Travel Company, entry required following @allegiant, liking the October 3 post, and tagging one friend, in its giveaway rules. The tag had to come from a public personal Instagram account, limit one entry.

The prize was one award of 50,000 Allways Rewards points valued at $500. Points prizes add an extra step because the winner must already be, or become, a member of that points program. Expired posts like this help you spot the pattern without confusing a past offer with a live one.

What steps prevent a rejected entry?

Read the dates, limits, and account fields together. Enter Southwest once total and American no more than once per day per person. Use the same name, birth date, and email tied to your loyalty account.

For social entries, keep your account public through selection. Like the exact post named in the rules, tag the required number of friends, and avoid extra comments that may break a one-entry limit.

  • Enter inside the listed start and end dates.
  • Stay within the daily or total entry limit.
  • Keep the required loyalty membership active.

What does winning cost at tax time?

Travel prizes are not free income after you win. According to the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. winners must include prizes in gross income, including fair market value of travel or miles, under its tax guidance.

That rule covers points, tickets, and trip packages. Never pay or share card numbers to enter, win, or claim. Allegiant states winners will never be asked for a card.

Plan for possible tax on the stated value before you enter a high-value trip drawing.
