Grocery store reward apps give free holiday items after you join the free loyalty program and reach a spending target or clip a digital offer. The app tracks eligible purchases and then provides a coupon or certificate for one turkey, ham or holiday roast to redeem by a set date. For this season, ShopRite says shoppers who spend $400 in qualifying purchases from Oct. 25 to Nov. 26, 2026 can redeem one turkey, ham, turkey breast, chicken, lasagna, mac-and-cheese or plant-based roast per household, under ShopRite promotion terms.
BJ's says members who spend $150 or more in one qualifying transaction Oct. 31 to Nov. 9, 2026 receive a digital coupon worth up to $25 for one fresh or frozen Butterball turkey, excluding organic, under BJ's turkey promotion.

Do you spend over time or in one trip?
Some programs add up many trips toward one holiday reward. ShopRite uses that model, with a $400 cumulative qualifying total during its Oct. 25 to Nov.
26 window. That structure suits a regular shopper at the same chain. Other programs require one large qualifying purchase.
BJ's requires $150 or more in one in-club, app or BJs.com transaction during Oct. 31 to Nov. 9.
A split basket or two smaller trips will not trigger it. Albertsons Companies programs at Safeway, Albertsons and Acme use a third pattern. Safeway says its for U program gives weekly personalized deals and points on eligible purchases for grocery or gas rewards, plus a welcome offer, annual birthday treat and monthly free item, under Safeway for U terms.
Holiday items can ride on that same points balance or appear as a separate clipped offer.
What item do you get?
The reward is usually one item from a short list, not any holiday meal. ShopRite lists turkey, ham, turkey breast, chicken, lasagna, mac-and-cheese or a plant-based roast. BJ's limits its coupon to one fresh or frozen Butterball turkey, excluding organic.
Value may be capped by weight or dollars. BJ's coupon is worth up to $25 toward the turkey. ShopRite allows either a free item or a discount, depending on the product and size selected.
Choice matters if you do not eat turkey. A shopper who wants ham, chicken, lasagna, mac-and-cheese or a meat-free roast may prefer a list with those swaps. Check the eligible product list before you build spending toward it.
What limits lower the value?
Spending thresholds, single-transaction rules, redemption windows, weight caps and product exclusions set the real cost. ShopRite excludes prescriptions, gift cards, lottery, postage and money orders from qualifying purchases. Those common extras will not move you toward $400.
Household and supply rules also limit sharing. ShopRite allows one holiday redemption per household. BJ's says its coupon must be claimed online or in-club from Nov.
14 to Nov. 25, 2026, while supplies last, as reported in the BJ's announcement. Date order is strict.
Qualifying shopping must fall inside the earning window, and pickup must fall inside the later redemption window. Shopping early or picking up late can leave the coupon unused.
How do you claim it without losing it?
You must join the free app or card program before the qualifying shop. You must also activate or clip the holiday digital coupon or offer before checkout, where required. ACME notes shoppers must handle for U offers through the program account, as described on the ACME for U page.
Keep the receipt and check the app after a large trip. If points or the coupon do not appear, contact the store before the redemption window closes. An unredeemed certificate or coupon expires after its deadline.
