How Do December Sweepstakes Deadlines Work?

See how time zones, receipt rules, and separate prize-claim dates decide December entries.
December sweepstakes deadlines work as strict cutoffs set down to the minute in a stated time zone. Entries must reach the sponsor by that moment, and late entries do not count. A sweepstakes is a free prize drawing where winners are picked by chance.
The Federal Trade Commission states in its consumer guidance on prizes that legitimate U.S. sweepstakes are free and decided by chance.
