Grocery Giveaways in Tacoma, WA: Updated 2026 List for Local Winners
Free Nourish distributions plus Safeway member treats give Tacoma shoppers real grocery savings in 2026.
Tacoma residents have verified grocery options in 2026 through neighborhood food-bank distributions and Safeway store rewards. A grocery giveaway here means free food with no purchase or a member reward, not a prize drawing. Food banks cover weekly needs, while store programs add smaller monthly perks.
The choices below show where to go, what to bring, and what limits apply.

Where can you get free groceries this week?
Nourish Pierce County runs the main local network for free food. According to Nourish Pierce County, its weekly schedule searchable by city or ZIP code was updated October 1, 2026 and valid October 7, 2026, covering all 22 distribution locations in Pierce County. Use the schedule to pick a Tacoma site and check its day and hours.
Availability varies by site, and quantities depend on family size.
What do you need to bring?
Nourish sites are open to anyone in need. Shoppers give name, household size, address or ZIP code, and household birthdates, with no identification or proof of address or income required. Nourish asks each household to visit no more than one Nourish site per week.
Pierce County Human Services also lists Tacoma and countywide food banks and advises readers to call first because hours change and rules vary, since some sites require appointments, identification, residency proof, or limit yearly visits.
- Check the Nourish schedule for your closest site.
- Bring your household details.
- Visit one Nourish site per week.
- Call any non-Nourish pantry first.
Are there seasonal drive-thru giveaways?
Seasonal events add holiday food alongside weekly pantries. Tacoma Venues & Events, Commencement Bank, and Nourish Pierce County staged the second annual Hams for the Holidays drive-thru at Tacoma Dome Parking Lot G, described in the event recap from Tacoma Venues & Events as a ham giveaway with limited alternatives while supplies last. Treat these events as one-day, while-supplies-last help.
Arrive early, expect a drive-thru line, and keep a weekly pantry visit as your backup plan.
How do Safeway grocery rewards work in Tacoma?
Safeway for U is a free loyalty program, not a food bank. According to Safeway, members get weekly grocery deals, a free item every month, and an annual birthday treat worth up to $10 under program terms last updated June 12, 2026. The birthday treat has extra steps.
According to Safeway, it loads at the start of the birthday month only after the member saves a month and day birthdate and made an in-store or online purchase within the prior 12 months, as explained in the Safeway for U answers on birthday rewards.
