Free Santa Visits: Where Malls and Stores Offer Them

Free Santa visits at Bass Pro, Macy's Herald Square and Salmon Run Mall, plus what photos cost extra.

Free Santa visits are available at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's stores, Macy's Herald Square, and Salmon Run Mall in Watertown, New York. Each location lets families meet Santa without paying admission, while photo gifts work differently by location. A free visit means the meeting and Santa time cost nothing.

Keepsake pictures are sometimes included and sometimes sold separately, so check what each spot includes before you go.

What Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's include

Bass Pro Shops About says Santa's Wonderland runs Nov. 8 through Dec. 24, 2026, according to the Santa's Wonderland announcement.

Every visiting family receives a free 4x6 studio-quality photo with Santa plus a free shareable video. Free reservations open up to seven days ahead at basspro.com/santa or cabelas.com/santa. The free print and video are included without a session fee.

Families who want more prints or related gift items should expect those extras to cost more.

How Macy's Herald Square works

Macy's, Inc. Newsroom says Santaland at Herald Square uses free online reservations opening Nov. 20, in the Macy's holiday announcement.

New slots open on a rolling basis seven days before each visit date. The visit is an immersive North Star Express journey to the North Pole. Chain Store Age reports a $250 premium Santaland package for up to eight guests, described in the Macy's holiday plans report.

It includes first-choice scheduling, expedited entry, extended Santa time, gifts and a photo package. Standard reservations remain free without those extras.

What mall visits include

Salmon Run Mall's official events page lists free Santa visits Dec. 4–24, 2026, in the mall's Santa schedule. Visits run through Cherry Hill Programs, with photo packages sold separately.

Reservations are recommended at whereissanta.com, with walk-ups taken as available. The mall model separates the meeting from the merchandise. You can visit Santa free and decide at the counter whether to buy pictures.

How to keep the visit free

Free slots need advance booking and busy dates fill fast. Book as soon as your date's window opens, especially for weekends and evenings near Christmas. Set a reminder for seven days before your target date and book the morning slots open.

  • Reserve at the exact booking window for your store or mall
  • Choose a free standard visit unless you want the paid extras
  • Expect only the visit and stated free print or video to be free
  • Confirm arrival rules before leaving home
