Epic Games Free Game Missing From Your Library: What to Check

Check the claiming account, Library filters, Launcher cache, and access exceptions when an Epic free game disappears.

If an Epic Games free game is missing, first check that you opened the correct Epic account and that Library filters are not hiding it. Then refresh or restart the Epic Games Launcher and clear its webcache if the title remains absent. A free promotion does not add a game automatically.

You must claim the title during its promotion period for it to enter your account.

Confirm the account that claimed the game

Sign out and confirm which Epic account you originally used. Pay particular attention to social sign-ins: a previous Google or Facebook login may lead to a different Epic account containing the game. Epic Games Store Support recommends checking the claiming account before troubleshooting the Launcher.

Try the same external sign-in method you used when redeeming the title, rather than entering another email address manually. Epic's missing-title guidance identifies account mix-ups as a reason games appear missing.

Clear filters and hidden-library settings

Open the Library and review its filters. If "Installed" is selected, uncheck it so uninstalled games appear, or choose "Reset" to clear all active filters. If your entire Library is missing on a PC or Mac, open the Launcher settings and clear "Hide Game Library." Restart the Launcher afterward, as directed by Epic Games Store Support.

Refresh the Epic Games Launcher

A claimed title may be present on the account even when the Launcher has not displayed it correctly. Work through these measures in order: These are Epic's recommended Launcher checks for a game that previously appeared but is no longer visible. They are most useful after confirming the account and clearing filters.

  • Refresh the Library view.
  • Close and restart the Epic Games Launcher.
  • Clear the Launcher's webcache.
  • Reopen the Library and search for the title again.

Make sure the giveaway was claimed

Seeing a free-game announcement or visiting its store page does not secure the title. Epic says players must claim a game within the stated promotion period; an expired offer cannot be claimed free afterward under that promotion. Epic's promotion guidance confirms this limitation.

If you completed the claim, account and display checks are the practical starting point. Epic says a game redeemed free through its store ordinarily cannot be removed from the Library.

When a game may actually be unavailable

Some exceptions can remove access. Epic identifies refunds, expired time-limited beta or press builds, and retailer codes later reported as fraudulent as possible reasons a title disappears. Epic's Store End User License Agreement also says software can rarely be removed from the Store and become unavailable for later download or access.

One example is an online game whose developer stops supporting it. If the earlier checks fail, contact Epic support with the game title and the account information associated with the claim.
