Do Loyalty Programs Offer Bonus Points for New Year Sign-Ups?
January joiners can earn hotel and dining bonus points if they meet stay and spend deadlines.
Yes, some loyalty programs offer bonus points for New Year sign-ups. A sign-up bonus means extra points for joining and then completing a qualifying stay, meal, or purchase. Hilton, IHG One Rewards, and dining programs have set date windows where a January join can still qualify.
Hilton says new members who join Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2026 can earn up to 3,000 bonus points for eligible stays completed within six months of joining, according to Hilton Welcome Bonus FAQs and Terms.

How do hotel welcome points work?
Hilton ties the bonus to stays, not just enrollment. The window covers joins through Dec. 31, 2026, with eligible stays due within six months of joining.
That structure favors travelers with near-term nights planned. A reader who joins in January but does not stay within six months would not earn the bonus.
What does IHG require for its 3,000 points?
IHG One Rewards offers 3,000 bonus points for one direct-booked qualifying stay completed within 21 days of enrollment during Apr. 1–Dec. 31, 2026, according to IHG new-member bonus page.
The stay must be booked direct and completed quickly after joining. The 21-day clock is tight. A New Year join outside the April start would not fit this window, so check enrollment dates before counting on it.
Can dining sign-ups earn points too?
Yes. Marriott Eat Around Town gives new dining members up to 6,000 points: 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 for three $30-plus visits within 60 days of creating a profile, according to Marriott Eat Around Town new-member bonus page. Each visit must meet the minimum spend.
This type of bonus suits readers who dine out often. Three separate qualifying visits are needed, not one large check.
What did a January restaurant launch include?
Ojos Locos launched Loco Rewards for 2026 with 250 bonus points at joining plus 5 points per $1, and January signups were entered for a chance to win two 2026 World Cup tickets, according to Ojos Locos launch announcement. The ticket part was a chance to win, not extra points for every joiner. Before joining any program, take these steps:
- Join through the named bonus page for that program.
- Link a payment card where the program asks for one.
- Meet the spend, stay, or visit count before the day limit ends.
- Keep the receipt, confirmation, and enrollment email until points post.
