Set your self-gift spending limit
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau advises subtracting regular expenses from income to set a holiday budget. What remains can cover gifts, travel, parties and decor, as explained in its holiday spending guidance. Decide your self-gift amount from that remainder.
Write it down before you shop. Keep the treat at or below that number.
Can a birthday treat be your gift?
Starbucks states Rewards members can receive one free handcrafted beverage or one food item or one bottled drink for a birthday at participating stores. Qualification requires joining at least 7 days before the birthday, saving the birthday in the account, and making at least one Star-earning purchase before the birthday each year, with Green redeeming birthday-day only, Gold for 7 days, and Reserve for 30 days, and the reward excludes multi-serve items, alcohol, merchandise, and packaged coffee, according to the current Starbucks Rewards Terms. If your birthday falls near Christmas, hold the treat for holiday week.
Check your account for your level and window. Plan it as a personal pause, not a gift for others.
