Learn where mail-in car giveaway rules hide, what details can void an entry, and which winner costs to check.
To find mail-in rules for a car giveaway with no purchase necessary, open the sponsor's own Official Rules and locate its alternate method of entry. Search the page for "mail-in," "AMOE," "alternate method," "postmark," and "no purchase." An AMOE is a free alternative method of entry, often using a handwritten card or postcard. It provides a chance to win—not a free or guaranteed vehicle—and entrants may still pay for postage.

What "no purchase necessary" means
A sweepstakes awards prizes by chance. The Federal Trade Commission says legitimate sweepstakes are free to enter, and a sponsor cannot require payment or a purchase to enter or improve someone's odds under federal consumer guidance. That does not mean every entry route costs nothing.
A mail-in AMOE may require a card, envelope, and postage. "No purchase necessary" means buying the sponsor's product is not required. Free entry also does not erase eligibility limits.
Before entering, check age, residence, excluded locations, entry caps, and the promotion's start and end dates.
Where to find the mail-in instructions
Start with the sponsor's website, but do not stop at the promotion or sales page. Find a link labeled "Official Rules," "Sweepstakes Rules," "Terms," or "Official Policy." Use your browser's find command and search these terms: Read the entire AMOE section. FTC guidance for certain pay-per-call sweepstakes illustrates the disclosure principle: the advertisement must explain the free-entry method or tell consumers where to obtain its instructions and disclose odds or the factors determining them.
Record both the postmark deadline and the arrival deadline if the rules list them. A card mailed on time can still be rejected if it arrives after a separate receipt date.

Details that can invalidate an entry
Treat each formatting instruction as mandatory. Check the required card size, envelope type, handwriting, personal information, wording, postage, and mailing address. Midwest Auto Sweepstakes, for example, defines its mail-in AMOE as the no-purchase route with equal odds per entry.
Its rules require handwritten identifying details, cap entries at 3,000 per participant per round, and exclude mailed entries from New York, Florida, and Rhode Island; entrants must consult the current round addendum for the vehicle, address, and deadline before mailing anything. Use the information requested in the rules, but do not add sensitive financial details. Keep a copy or photograph of the completed entry and the applicable rules so you can document what you mailed.
Check the prize costs before entering
Winning a car may create substantial costs. Review who pays taxes, shipping, insurance, licensing, title, registration, and any state-compliance expenses. The Opheim Motors Formula Giveaway runs from August 14 through November 14, 2026.
Its posted policy says a qualifying postcard receives 25 entries, but the Pro Formula Mazda is awarded "as is"; the winner bears listed ownership and delivery expenses and may face Montana registration or home-state compliance requirements under the giveaway policy. If someone says you won, verify the notice through contact information you independently find for the sponsor. Do not pay supposed taxes, shipping, or processing charges to claim the car, and do not provide banking information in response to an unexpected prize message.
