Black Friday Router and Wi-Fi Deals: What's Worth Upgrading

Match your router choice to device support and home size to avoid paying for speed you cannot use.

Upgrade only if your current router lags and your phones and laptops already support 6 GHz. The NETGEAR holiday listings worth comparing are the Orbi 370 mesh for large homes and the Nighthawk RS150 for smaller homes. Wi-Fi 7 means routers and devices certified for faster throughput and lower delay across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands.

Many homes do not need 6 GHz yet. Match the router to device support and floor area before you spend.

What does Wi-Fi 7 add?

Wi-Fi Alliance launched Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 7 on January 8, 2024 to certify routers and clients for higher throughput, lower latency, and use across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, as described in the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 7 announcement. The program covers both routers and client devices. It sets a common baseline for throughput and delay.

Wi-Fi Alliance notes Wi-Fi 7 adds 320-MHz superwide channels that double the widest Wi-Fi 6 channel. It also adds Multi-Link Operation for simultaneous links and 4K QAM for denser data packing. Those features help only when router and device both support them.

Do your devices use 6 GHz?

The FCC made 1,200 megahertz in the 6 GHz band, 5.925–7.125 GHz, available for unlicensed use, with indoor low-power use across the full band and standard-power use in 850 MHz through automated frequency coordination, as documented in the FCC 6 GHz order. That spectrum enables wider channels and less congestion. Access depends on device support.

Only Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 routers and compatible clients can use 6 GHz, according to FCC materials. Buyers without 6 GHz phones, laptops, and adapters gain little from paying extra for it. Check network settings or specs for 6 GHz before choosing.

Which listing fits which home?

NETGEAR's 2025 holiday page listed the Wi-Fi 7 Orbi 370 3-pack covering up to 6,000 sq. ft. at $289.99, down from $349.99, as shown on the 2025 holiday networking deals page.

A 3-pack places nodes around the home to extend coverage. It fits multi-floor homes with weak spots. The same NETGEAR page listed the Wi-Fi 7 Nighthawk RS150 at $179.99, down from $199.99.

NETGEAR pitched it for homes where Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 routers lag with new gadgets. It fits apartments and smaller homes with one central router spot.

  • Large home with dead zones and several 6 GHz devices: compare Orbi 370 3-pack
  • Smaller home with lag on older router: compare Nighthawk RS150
  • No 6 GHz devices: keep current router and recheck after upgrades

How to confirm the final price?

That NETGEAR holiday offer added an extra 10% off eligible Wi-Fi 7 routers and mesh systems plus a free wall mount with code Mount. The offer was limited-time. Eligibility applied only to selected Wi-Fi 7 models.

NETGEAR notes prices can change at checkout, so confirm the total before you pay. Enter Mount where shown and check that the discount appears. Save a copy of the listed price and terms.
