Black Friday Price Match Policies Explained

Learn which holiday price drops qualify for a price adjustment and what proof to bring to claim it.

Black Friday price-match policies spell out when a store will refund a price drop after you buy. A price match is a credit for the difference when the same item sells for less within an allowed time. This year, the main split is whose price can count.

Some stores look only at their own prices, while others pause rival matches during Black Friday week. Knowing the time limits helps you decide when to buy and when to ask.

What does Target match?

Target Help says Target matches only its own lower prices on qualifying items. The comparison uses Target.com, store, or automatic Circle prices within 14 days with receipt proof. Why does Best Buy go quiet on rival prices?

According to Best Buy's price-match terms, rival price matches pause from November 19 through 30 in 2026 Best Buy's price-match terms. Items marked as Black Friday pricing are also excluded. A lower ad from another retailer during that stretch does not create a match.

If a rival price drives your choice, compare before November 19 and decide early.

What about Walmart and Amazon?

Walmart Corporate says U.S. stores will match the identical item advertised on Walmart.com, with restrictions and manager approval Walmart's price-match answer. Walmart.com does not match rival sellers, marketplace listings, or earlier buys that later drop.

Amazon Customer Service says Amazon does not pay price-matching refunds when Amazon or a rival later lists the same item cheaper Amazon's pricing and price-matching page. Assume the checkout price is final and weigh that before you click buy.
