Black Friday Luggage Deals: How to Spot a Real Discount

Check 90-day history for the exact suitcase model, add shipping and returns, and skip inflated was-price tags.
A real Black Friday luggage discount beats the suitcase's actual regular price over time, not just the crossed-out label. Buy only when the total for that exact model beats its recent selling price. A crossed-out was-price means little on its own.
Federal Trade Commission guides treat a was-price as legitimate only if it was the actual, bona fide regular price for a reasonably substantial time, as described in the federal pricing guides.

What counts as a real price cut?
A real cut starts from a price shoppers actually paid for a sustained period. Briefly inflated pre-sale prices are fictitious under that standard. A 40% off tag tied to a one-week markup is not a saving.
For luggage, compare the exact model number, size and color. Retailers sell similar-looking cases with different wheels, handles and warranties. Shipping, tax and return fees are part of the price.
Why do sale labels mislead on luggage?
Constant sales make was-prices hard to trust. Nonprofit Consumers' Checkbook tracked more than 25 items at 25 United States chains weekly for 24 weeks from February 2025 and found 21 chains on sale over half the time. Black Friday adds the same problem.
Which? found 83% of products in the 2024 Black Friday sales fortnight had already sold for the same price or less at other times of year, as reported in the Which? Black Friday shopping research.
A later Which? investigation found all analysed 2025 deals were cheaper or the same price at other times of year.
How do you check the history before you buy?
Ignore the percentage and rebuild the record yourself. Chrome's Shopping Insights shows cross-web price history and price range and offers price-drop tracking after sign-in and sync opt-in, according to the Chrome Shopping Insights help page. Use it to check the suitcase across sellers:
- Search the exact model number, not just the brand and size.
- Note the lowest price in the last 90 days, plus shipping and tax.
- Check the return window and fee for checked and carry-on sizes.
- Save the listing or set tracking, then wait if the price is flat.
When should you walk away?
Walk away when the history shows the same price earlier in the fall. Visualping daily-tracked more than 1,500 retail products from 1 October to 1 December 2025 and classified one-third of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals as no real saving. Australia's ACCC sweep of 50 Black Friday 2025 sellers found about half made concerning claims, including inflated original prices and resetting timers.
For luggage, limited return rights raise the risk. A non-refundable final-sale case locks in a poor price. Buy only if the delivered total undercuts the 90-day low and the bag remains returnable.
