Birthday Reward Not Showing in the App? What to Check

Check account details, timing, purchase rules, eligible channels, and stock when an app birthday reward is missing.

If a birthday reward is missing, first check the account, saved birth date, eligibility steps, and redemption window. The correct checks depend on the rewards program because each company sets different rules. A birthday reward is a member benefit tied to a birth date in a loyalty account.

It may appear only on a certain day or month, and some programs require a prior purchase or an eligible order.

Confirm the account and birth date

Make sure the app is signed in to the same account that contains your rewards membership. If you have more than one email address, phone number, or login method, you may be viewing a different profile. Next, open the profile and confirm that your birth date is saved correctly.

Starbucks, for example, requires members to enter a birthday, join at least seven days beforehand, and complete one Star-earning transaction before their birthday each year, according to the Starbucks Rewards terms. Check these account details before troubleshooting the app:

  • The membership is active and connected to the signed-in account.
  • The birth date is present and accurate.
  • Any required transaction was credited to the same account.
  • You joined early enough to meet the program's cutoff.

Check when the reward should appear

Do not assume every birthday offer lasts for the full month. The reward may not have started yet, or it may already have expired. A standard Starbucks Green-level Birthday Reward is valid only on the member's birthday.

Gold members receive seven days, while Reserve members receive 30 days. Starbucks also limits redemption to participating stores and requires the app barcode or a registered Starbucks Card, as detailed in its current rewards terms. Ulta Beauty uses a birthday-month window instead.

Its annual gift is available to eligible rewards members with a birthday in their profile and a valid email address or mobile app, while supplies last.

Review purchase and checkout requirements

A reward can appear available but fail at checkout because the order does not qualify. Review the cart subtotal, excluded merchandise, required code, and sales channel. For Ulta app or website redemption, the cart must contain more than $0 in non-marketplace merchandise, and a coupon code may be required.

The gift cannot be redeemed through DoorDash, Instacart, Uber Eats, TikTok Shop, or Google AI surfaces, according to the Ulta Beauty Rewards terms. At Sephora, online birthday-gift redemption requires at least $25 in qualifying merchandise after discounts. An in-store redemption requires no purchase, according to the Sephora Beauty Insider terms.

Consider channel, location, and inventory limits

If the reward is unavailable through a delivery service, try the company's own app, website, or participating store when the terms allow it. A third-party platform may not support the loyalty benefit even when it sells the company's products. Inventory can also affect what appears.

Ulta describes its birthday gift as available while supplies last. Sephora gifts may vary by store and membership tier, and substitutions or stock limits can apply. For Sephora, Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats are not eligible redemption channels.

Switching to a qualifying channel may solve the problem, but it cannot restore an expired reward or unavailable inventory.

What to do if you meet every requirement

Capture a screenshot showing the missing reward, then note your account email, membership number, birthday, qualifying transaction, and expected redemption window. Do not post those details publicly. Contact the program through its own app or website and ask it to verify: If the redemption window is short, contact the program before it closes.

A standard Starbucks Green-level reward, for example, expires after the member's birthday rather than remaining available for the rest of the month.

  • Whether the birthday is attached to the correct account.
  • Whether the required transaction was credited in time.
  • Whether the reward was issued and has an expiration date.
  • Whether your chosen store, cart, or redemption channel qualifies.
