Best Grocery Giveaways in Fremont, CA: 2026 Local Guide
Check Fremont's current free grocery hours, ID rules, pantry locations, and store reward limits before you go.
The verified free grocery option in Fremont in 2026 is Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank's Marketplace at 37350 Joseph St, plus its Mobile Pantry network. Store programs from Safeway and Sprouts add small rewards, not full free groceries. Choice-model groceries mean shoppers select their own foods from shelves, much like a small store.
That model shapes hours, eligibility checks, and visit limits described below.

Where is the Fremont free grocery storefront?
Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank lists current Marketplace hours as Monday through Thursday 10am to 2pm, with drive-thru only Friday 10 to 11:30am, in its current Marketplace schedule. The address is 37350 Joseph St in Fremont. Plan for weekday morning visits because no weekend hours are listed.
The Marketplace is the main Tri-Cities distribution point, not a retail store. Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank reports serving 1,500 families weekly and distributing 2 million pounds yearly through the Marketplace and Mobile Pantry system. Arrive with time to shop and carry food home.
Who can shop and what should you bring?
Free groceries are limited to Alameda County residents who meet federal TEFAP income guidelines. First-time visitors need ID to receive a TCV card, and households may shop twice monthly. Those limits separate this benefit from a public sample or chance-to-win offer.
Alameda County Community Food Bank identifies TCV as its agency partner serving Fremont, Newark and Union City since 1985, in its partner profile for the Tri-Cities. Bring ID on the first visit and track your two visits per month.
What if you cannot reach Joseph Street?
TCV operates about 19 to 20 Mobile Pantry sites across the Tri-Cities in addition to the Joseph Street Marketplace. Those sites widen access for people without transportation to Fremont. The county supply chain supports both formats.
Use the Marketplace for choice-model shopping during weekday hours. Use a nearby Mobile Pantry when the storefront schedule or distance does not work.
