Which checkout rewards lower your total?

Food Lion's free MVP Shop and Earn gives personalized monthly offers for grocery trips. According to Food Lion LLC, Food Lion's Shop and Earn announcement says members load offers and shop with the MVP card. Members track progress online or in the app, and rewards auto-load for the next trip, advertised as averaging $20 or more monthly.

Harris Teeter LLC says its free VIC card gives automatic savings on VIC-marked items. The same account also gives automatic entry into VIC sweepstakes and promotions for prizes, rewards and free groceries. The price cut applies at checkout, while the sweepstakes entry is only a chance to win.

Lidl US says Lidl Plus is a free loyalty program with member pricing, personalized coupons and digital receipts. New members collect 50 welcome points toward Rewards Marketplace rewards. Use member prices for routine staples and save points offers for larger reward redemptions.

What do signup and birthday perks include?

Club Publix is a free loyalty program with a signup and birthday benefit. According to Publix Super Markets, Club Publix registration terms offer a free birthday treat and $5 off a $20-or-more purchase at signup. Members redeem by entering the member phone number at checkout.

Publix lists these terms as updated 6/30/2025. Krispy Kreme Rewards gives points and a birthday treat. According to Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp., Krispy Kreme Rewards terms say members earn 10 points per $1 and receive a birthday sweet-treat reward on the listed birth date.

The birthday reward is valid 30 days, and joining needs account creation or the app. Publix ties its $5 benefit to a $20 purchase, while Krispy Kreme ties points to dollars spent. Both need the birthday or phone number on file before the visit.

Register those details early to keep the treat redeemable.

Where can Durham households get no-cost food?

The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina opened a Durham hub for sourcing and distribution. The source describes its 64,000-square-foot Food Lion FEEDS Hunger Solution Center at 1607 Hamlin Road as a base for food sourcing, distribution, volunteering and advocacy. Durham residents can look to this network for pantry supply, not walk-in retail pickup.

One local outlet is the Food Bank-supplied Joiful Bellies Food Pantry at the LGBTQ Center of Durham. According to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, Durham pantry update on Joiful Bellies describes it as an appointment-based choice pantry focused on produce, dairy and protein. It provided more than 10,000 meals in 2025.

Choice-pantry appointments control access, so book before traveling. Bring the confirmation details and arrive in the booked window. Households needing ongoing help can ask pantry staff about other partner hours.

What deadlines control these offers?

Most offers need advance enrollment and timely activation and then expire. Birthday coupons last days or weeks and monthly grocery rewards close at month-end, according to Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. and Food Lion LLC.

Durham users must register birthdays, activate offers, and book pantry appointments before visiting. Plan each trip with these checks: Check the account on the morning of shopping, since an unloaded offer or missing appointment cannot be fixed at the register.

• Load Food Lion monthly offers and check progress in the account before shopping.
• Enter the Club Publix phone number at checkout and confirm the $20 threshold for the $5 benefit.
• List the correct birth date in rewards accounts and use birthday treats within the validity window.
• Book the Joiful Bellies appointment ahead and confirm pantry time before traveling.
