Which school-supply events were verified?
MSCS held "Back to Greatness" on August 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Memphis Sports & Events Center.
It offered free supplies to all MSCS families, along with registration assistance and free immunizations. The Muse Foundation advertised backpacks, school supplies, hygiene items, and resources for K–12 students on August 1. Its event listing placed the event in Bartlett, so it was Memphis-area rather than Memphis proper.
Rich Off Education scheduled its second annual Back to School Bash at Marquette Park on August 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The organizer advertised free supplies, backpacks, food, entertainment, and family resources on its 2026 event page.
Two more listings had important limits. BePoshed & Company offered K–12 backpacks and supplies at Pilgrim Baptist Church, but its Eventbrite registration was sold out. Centenary United Methodist Church's calendar confirmed a July 25 health fair and back-to-school drive at 584 E.

Who qualified—and what remains unknown?
Eligibility varied by organizer. "All MSCS families" did not mean every child living in Memphis, while the Muse Foundation and BePoshed listings specifically identified K–12 students. BePoshed also required the child to attend.
The available Rich Off Education and Centenary listings did not establish detailed eligibility rules, so readers should not assume universal access. Several listings omitted inventory details. Rich Off Education said it served hundreds in the prior year but did not publish a 2026 distribution count.
Centenary did not confirm a backpack quantity.
What was not counted as a giveaway?

KIPP Memphis listed Gear Up Day, immunizations, and first-come sports physicals for KIPP families, but it did not advertise backpacks or school-supply distribution.
