See what remains open for Honolulu residents, who qualifies, and which July school-supply promotions have already ended.
As of August 31, 2026, Honolulu does not have a verified three-offer list of active back-to-school giveaways. One school-themed sweepstakes closes tonight, while a separate statewide road-safety challenge is available to eligible Honolulu drivers. A back-to-school giveaway is a seasonal promotion or assistance program offering school-related prizes or supplies.
Several documented Honolulu events ended in July, and no verified local winner list is available yet.

Hawaiian Electric sweepstakes closes tonight
Hawaiian Electric is accepting one entry per household through 11:59 p.m. HST on August 31. Paperless-billing customers may enter, and the rules provide a free email-entry alternative.
Entrants must be Hawaiʻi legal residents aged 21 or older. Employees and their immediate families are excluded, so most schoolchildren cannot enter directly. According to Hawaiian Electric's 2026 rules, five randomly selected winners will each receive a 256 GB Apple MacBook Neo valued at $699.
Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash, and the odds depend on the number of eligible entries.
A statewide challenge for Honolulu drivers
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation's Safe Roads Challenge is another current option, although it is a traffic-safety program rather than a school-supply giveaway. Honolulu residents with valid driver's licenses may participate free through its app. The Hawaiʻi DOT challenge page designates August as Back-to-School Month.
Participants can pursue weekly brand prizes and entries toward a prize vault valued at up to $100,000. This opportunity is relevant to adult drivers, not children seeking backpacks or classroom supplies. Participation provides chances to win rather than a guaranteed reward.
When will local winners be known?
Hawaiian Electric expects to select five winners around September 4. Its winner list should become available around September 5. Until then, no Honolulu resident should be presented as a confirmed winner.
The rules do not promise that any of the five selected entrants will live in Honolulu because eligibility extends across Hawaiʻi.
Which Honolulu events have ended?
Target's closest documented Honolulu giveaway occurred July 22. Participating students received a $100 Target gift card, backpack, Yoobi supplies, water bottle, and snacks, but Target identifies it as a past July event. Ala Moana Center's promotion offered two $500 mall gift cards.
Instagram entries closed July 26, and winners had to visit the mall to claim their prizes. The Salvation Army's Oʻahu school-supply assistance ran July 27–31 at Kauluwela Corps. Its 2026 assistance information required photo identification, proof of residency, and each K–12 child's birth certificate.
What can readers do now?
For an August 31 entry, check these limits before proceeding: Anyone checking results should wait until approximately September 5 for Hawaiian Electric's winner list rather than relying on an earlier winner claim.
- Complete the Hawaiian Electric entry before 11:59 p.m. HST.
- Confirm that the entrant is a Hawaiʻi resident aged 21 or older.
- Submit no more than one entry per household.
- Use the listed free email method if applicable.
- Treat the Safe Roads Challenge as a separate driver-focused prize program.
