See which Aurora school-supply benefits remain relevant, which events passed, and what limits families should check.

As of August 26, 2026, no verified citywide back-to-school giveaway remains open in Aurora. The APS August 1 kickoff and Boston P-8 August 5 celebration have passed. Two school-specific benefits remain relevant for enrolled students.

These are supply distributions, not sweepstakes, so there is no drawing or list of "local winners."

Which school-supply benefits still apply?

Crawford Elementary School, at 1600 Florence St., says every student will receive supplies for the 2026–27 year. Highlands Ranch Serves and the Assistance League of Denver are providing them, according to Crawford's school-supplies page. Clara Brown Entrepreneurial Academy, at 472 S.

Wheeling St., will provide every sixth-grade student with a backpack. Its 2026–27 supply notice therefore makes a family-purchased backpack optional for sixth grade only. Neither notice describes a public giveaway for all Aurora residents.

Families should not assume the benefits extend to students at other schools or grade levels.

What happened at the APS kickoff?

Aurora Public Schools held its Back-to-School Kickoff at Town Center at Aurora on August 1. The event distributed free backpacks and school supplies and included food, entertainment, and community resources. APS also offered low- or no-cost student immunizations and enrollment help for new families.

Eligibility was limited to Aurora Public Schools families, excluding residents whose children attend another district or school system. Because the dated event has passed, its benefits should not be presented as available on August 26. The APS listing does not document another 2026 distribution date.

Boston P-8's backpack limit and separate fee

Boston P-8 scheduled complimentary backpacks during its August 5 celebration at 1365 Boston St. Backpacks were limited to available inventory, so the notice did not promise one for every family. The school also lists a separate $25 cash school-supply fee for students in Grades P–8.

Receiving a complimentary backpack did not eliminate that charge. Boston P-8 says payment options and assistance are available. Families concerned about the fee can ask the school about those arrangements.

What should Aurora families check now?

The remaining documented help depends on the student's school and grade. A quick eligibility check can prevent an unnecessary purchase or a trip to a closed event: Boston P-8 families unable to pay that fee should ask the school about the payment options or assistance identified on its supply page.

  • Crawford students are covered by the school's stated supply distribution.
  • Clara Brown sixth graders will receive backpacks; the notice does not extend that benefit to other grades.
  • The APS and Boston P-8 giveaway dates have passed.
  • Boston P-8 families still need to account for the separate $25 cash supply fee.
