Amazon Hub Lockers: How They Help Prevent Package Theft

Choose a nearby locker at checkout, open it with your one-time code, and pick up within 3 days.
Amazon Hub Lockers help prevent package theft by holding your parcel in a secured pickup point instead of on a porch. Amazon Hub Lockers are free self-service pickup points you select as the delivery address at checkout. Porch theft affects many shoppers.
Security.org estimated 47.7 million Americans faced package theft in the last year, with $7.7 billion in stolen goods in its annual package-theft report. A locker breaks that pattern by keeping the box out of sight until you arrive.

How does the locked pickup work?
After delivery, Amazon sends a unique 6-digit pickup code and barcode by email or app notice. You enter the code or scan the barcode at the locker touchscreen. It opens only your assigned door, according to Amazon's locker help page.
Each parcel sits inside its own locked compartment. These units sit in stores, pharmacies, groceries and shopping centers. Passersby cannot see or grab the box, and the one-time code limits access.
Why avoid the porch?
A box left at a door invites quick theft. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service advises recipients not to leave letters and packages in mailboxes or at doors and to arrange prompt pickup or Hold for Pickup.
An Omnisend analysis of FBI data plus survey results estimated Americans lost $12.8 billion to about 228 million stolen packages in 2025. It found nearly 1 in 3 households reporting theft. A locker follows the same protective logic by removing the wait on the porch.
What are the size and time limits?
Lockers fit smaller parcels only. Products must be smaller than 16 x 12 x 14 inches. Uncollected parcels are returned after 3 calendar days for refund, according to Amazon's size and pickup limits.
Check dimensions before you select locker delivery. Large items will not qualify. Plan to collect quickly so the parcel does not go back.
