Check the four Welcome Box requirements, learn who can make the $10 purchase, and find where to claim the benefit.

Amazon's Baby Registry Welcome Box is a free benefit for qualifying registrants, not an automatic gift for everyone who creates a registry. To qualify, create a baby registry, join Prime, add 10 products, reach $10 in registry purchases, and claim the box. The box introduces parents to products and brands through a changing mix of full-size, travel-size, and sample-size items for parent and baby.

Who qualifies for the Welcome Box?

Amazon lists four eligibility requirements for the benefit: an Amazon baby registry, Prime membership, at least 10 added products, and $10 in registry purchases. All four must be completed before the registrant qualifies, according to Amazon's Welcome Box page. Use this checklist before trying to claim the box:

  • Create an Amazon baby registry.
  • Join Prime.
  • Add at least 10 products to the registry.
  • Reach $10 in purchases from the registry.

Who must make the $10 purchase?

The registrant does not have to spend the qualifying $10 personally. Amazon says the purchases may come from either the registrant or a gift giver. For example, if a friend buys at least $10 in products through the registry, that purchase can meet the spending requirement.

The important detail is that the purchase comes through the registry, as explained on Amazon's Welcome Box page.

How to create and fill the registry

Start through Amazon's Registry & Gifting flow and select "I'm welcoming a baby." Amazon says products can then be added from the registry homepage or from individual product pages. Choose at least 10 items you genuinely want or expect to need. Adding products completes only one requirement; Prime membership and $10 in registry purchases remain separate eligibility steps.

How to claim the box

The Welcome Box does not ship merely because the requirements have been completed. Eligible registrants must open the Benefits section of their registry, visit the dedicated Welcome Box page, and actively claim it, according to Amazon's instructions. After meeting the checklist, return to the registry rather than waiting for an automatic shipment.

Look for the Welcome Box benefit and follow the claim option shown there.

What might be inside?

Amazon describes the box as a mix of products for parent and baby. Items may be full-size, travel-size, or sample-size, with the purpose of introducing families to different brands and products. Amazon also warns that specific contents may change over time.

Treat item lists and estimated values shared elsewhere as examples, not promises about the box you may receive.

A separate Prime registry benefit

Prime registrants may also qualify for a 15% discount on registry items. This benefit is separate from the Welcome Box and has a maximum total discount of $300. Amazon says the discount period runs from 60 days before the listed arrival date through 90 days afterward, as detailed in Amazon's baby registry guide.
