Alternative Method of Entry: How to Find the Free Sweepstakes Entry Option in Official Rules

Find the AMOE section in sweepstakes rules and mail a valid free entry before the deadline.

The free entry option, called an Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE), lives in the Official Rules under "How to Enter" or "No Purchase Necessary." Open that section, find the AMOE heading and mailing address, and follow those steps to enter without a purchase. That section controls your entry. It names what to send, where to send it, and the arrival cutoff.

Why the Free Route Has to Exist

United States sweepstakes combine prize and chance with no required payment. Votigo explains that sponsors must offer a free entry route to avoid an illegal lottery in Votigo's legal overview. The Federal Trade Commission says legitimate sweepstakes are free and that paying does not improve your odds in its consumer guidance on prizes and sweepstakes.

How to Find It Quickly

Start from the entry page link labeled Official Rules. Press Ctrl+F or Command+F and search for How to Enter, No Purchase Necessary, and AMOE. Use the AMOE address, not customer service or headquarters.

If the rules list both purchase and mail entries, the mail address is your no-purchase path.

  • Read the How to Enter section first, then the No Purchase Necessary paragraph.
  • Copy the AMOE mailing address exactly, including name and P.O. box.
  • Note start date, end date, postmark date, and receipt date.
  • Check age, residency, and limit lines before you mail.

What You Usually Mail

Many mail entries ask for a hand-printed 3-inch by 5-inch card. Coca-Cola's Sprite example shows the pattern for one entry. Hand-print name, address, phone, birthdate and email on the card, add postage, and mail it to the P.O. box in Coca-Cola's Sprite Swag Jacket rules. No purchase necessary does not mean no cost: you still pay postage and supplies. It buys a chance to win, not a prize.

Limits That Can Disqualify Your Envelope

Mail entries face strict form and timing rules. They can require one card per envelope, hand-printing, postmark and receipt dates, entry caps, age, residency and void limits, as shown in Wawa's May 2026 rules. Mail early so the postmark and arrival dates both fall inside the window.

Keep a photo of the card and envelope until winners are announced.
