Zoom and Webex cap free meetings at 40 minutes. Google Meet, Teams and Zoho allow 60 for groups, and Jitsi and Signal list no time limit. Here are the published limits for each.
Several big-name video conferencing tools have permanent free plans. The catch is a time limit on group calls. Zoom and Webex cap free meetings at 40 minutes. Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoho Meeting allow 60 minutes for group calls. Jitsi Meet and Signal don't list a time limit at all. Here are seven free options and the limits each one publishes.
Last checked: October 26, 2026 against the official site. Details can change.
1. Zoom Workplace Basic: 40 minutes, 100 people
Zoom's pricing page lists the Basic plan as Free, with "Meetings up to 40 minutes" and a participant capacity of 100. It also includes Chat and Calendar plus limited versions of AI notes and summaries, Clips and Whiteboard. The paid Pro plan, listed at $14.16 per user per month billed annually, raises meetings to 30 hours.
2. Google Meet: 60 minutes for groups, 24 hours one-on-one
For personal (non-Workspace) accounts, Google's Meet help center lists a maximum of 100 participants per meeting. "If your meeting is one-on-one, it has a time limit of 24 hours. If your meeting has 3 or more participants, it has a time limit of one hour." That makes Meet one of the most generous free choices for long two-person calls. You can start or join from a browser, and you can join from Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.
3. Microsoft Teams (free): 60 minutes, 100 people
Microsoft's Teams plan comparison lists a free version with "group calling for up to 60 minutes and 100 participants," plus 5 GB of cloud storage, unlimited chat, and tasks and polls. The paid Microsoft 365 plans raise meetings to 30 hours and 300 participants.
4. Webex Free: 40 minutes, 100 attendees
Webex Free is $0 and includes "unlimited meetings, up to 40 min per meeting" and "up to 100 attendees per meeting." It also lists:
- Screen sharing with annotation
- Unlimited whiteboards
- Local recording to your computer
- Calendar integration
- Advanced noise cancellation
Local recording is useful, because several other free plans don't record at all.
5. Zoho Meeting Free: 60 minutes, 100 participants
Zoho Meeting's pricing page lists a Free plan at US$0 with meetings "up to 60 minutes" and "up to 100 participants per meeting." It includes screen sharing, a whiteboard, VoIP calling, chat, virtual backgrounds, moderator controls, and email reminders for participants. It's a good fit if you already use other Zoho tools.
6. Jitsi Meet: open source, no account
Jitsi's project page describes Jitsi Meet as "100% open source video conferencing" that "you can use all day, every day, for free — with no account needed." You share a custom meeting URL, and it includes screen sharing, chat and encryption by default. The public service runs at meet.jit.si, and because the software is open source, organizations can also run it on their own servers. Review the meet.jit.si terms before using it for work.
7. Signal: private group video calls up to 75 people
Signal is a messaging app rather than a meeting tool, but its group calling help page says group video calls are "private too." The size limit is 75, and everyone must be in the same Signal group chat and running the latest version. You can share your screen from Signal Desktop. It's a good choice for family or small-team calls when privacy matters more than features like recording.
